Bushwalking
There is nothing more relaxing than walking through the bush and admiring the wilderness, whilst taking in the silence. The NUMC runs walking trips for all people from the complete novice to the more experienced walker. You don’t have to be fit, just bring along your enthusiasm.

Locations
The places we go to are quite varied but always very beautiful Areas we regularly visit include the Barrington tops, Blue Mountains, Snowy Mountains and Wollemi National Park.

Time of Activity
Trips can vary from a single day walk to a couple of days, extending to a week or more. Walks taken through the Snowy Mountains and other alpine areas should be run in one of the warmer seasons as the chances of encountering snow make the use of cross-country skis necessary. Otherwise, walks can be undertaken in any season with any weather conditions.

Equipment
Pack as lightly as possible but be prepared for any weather changes.  Don’t just go to the Blue Mountains mid-summer with  a shirt and a pair of shorts (as Brad used to do!). A person of average fitness can manage a pack of about 15 kilograms. If you consider yourself below average do not exceed this limit. For those not quite sure of what to take, look at our suggestions.
