Canyoning
Fun for Summer
There's no doubt about it.  Canyoning is the perfect summertime activity.  It combines all the elements of other outdoors activities, and allows you access to remote areas of wondrous nature.

In an average canyoning trip, you navigate to the start of a canyon in the cool of the morning, often bushwalking along ridges allowing you great views of misty valleys you will soon descend into.  Via a series of gullies and waterways, you make your way into the canyon.

Sometimes there are sections you can't scramble down, so with a handline or abseil make your way through the watercourse.  The canyons are sometimes less than a metre wide, with up to 40m sheer sandstone walls rising up above you.

As it is the hottest part of the day, you appreciate the fact you're in a shady environment, surrounded by  waterfalls and their plunge pools.

By  mid-afternoon the canyon opens up again, and exit is possible.  Fill up the water bottles making sure your thumb's not nibbled  by a yabbie, and begin the walk back to camp.
