The Warrumbungles
Introduction by Adam Bramwell October 97

"WHAT? Twenty-six people want to come climbing in the Bungles?"

Mike’s words sent a shudder down my spine. The first major climbing trip I had organised was going to be a logistical nightmare. I had visions of bumblies stumbling into each other on top of the third pitch of Cornerstone, sending fridge-sized rocks tumbling down onto groups below. "Well, I guess they can all come as long as they don’t mind walking instead of climbing for the week."

The weeks leading up to a major trip are like a full-time job. Not only are there dozens of people to satisfy, with a whole manner of enquiries, personal itineraries to fulfil, sleeping arrangements, transport and gear to organise. It isn’t just you who is organising a trip - your flatmates and answering machine are doing their share, and they tend to let you know it! So when I loaded the bodies and gear into the minibus I knew the hard part of the trip was over. All I had to do now was climb the mountains.
